Wednesday was another action-packed day at camp, filled with laughter, adventure, new experiences, and plenty of camp memories in the making!

We had originally hoped to spend part of Wednesday on a canoe trip, but because of the high river level and current conditions, we made the decision to keep campers off the river. Safety always comes first at camp, and while we were disappointed to change our plans, our campers and staff made the most of the day. And that’s one of the special things about camp: sometimes the plans change, but the adventure doesn’t have to stop. Fingers crossed for sunny skies on Friday so we can get down the New River!

PLOT TWIST: Thursday activities on Wednesday! Campers had the opportunity to try four new activities throughout the day. One of the best parts of camp is discovering something you’ve never done before—tree climbing, hatchet throwing, baiting a fishing pole, or tackling the pump track on the bike. Our campers embraced those opportunities with enthusiasm!

One of the many highlights of our week is Campfire: aka Skit Night, when campers and counselors had the chance to show off their creativity and sense of humor. We saw silly characters and clever performances from all cabins, with sightings of gnomes! Camp was full of laughter and it was a wonderful reminder of the joy that comes from being part of the Cheerio New River camp community.

Instead of letting the change in plans slow us down, campers jumped into other activities, caught some fish, bike along the trails, and enjoyed another fantastic day at camp. Wednesday was a great reminder that some of the best camp memories come from simply being together!
