4C: August 3rd – August 9th

This morning at Camp Cheerio, we kicked off the day with a sweet and satisfying breakfast—cinnamon rolls, cereal, and yogurt gave everyone the fuel they needed for an action-packed day. Shortly after breakfast, excitement filled the air as our canoe trip campers and CREW hikers set off on their adventures, waving goodbye to cheers from the rest of camp. Back on camp, the rest of the campers returned to cabins for cabin cleanup. Congratulations to the Mohawk, Sioux, Choctaw, Iroquois, Sequoia, Lakota, and Pawnee cabins for having the cleanest cabins! Following cabin cleanup, campers jumped straight into their morning activities. Whether it was horseback riding, arts & crafts, skeet shooting, basketball, or more, the energy was high and the smiles were everywhere.

Lunch was a crowd favorite: meatball subs paired with crispy tater tots and delicious brownies for dessert. Afterward, we enjoyed an extended rest period—some much-needed quiet time in the cabins to recharge and relax before the fun picked back up. In the afternoon, activities resumed and the camp buzzed with creativity, competition, and connection. We were excited to welcome back both our CREW hikers and canoe trippers. The CREW group returned triumphantly from their hike, wrapping up with the traditional "Green Mile" finish—and of course, the classic celebratory jump into the pool!

After a full afternoon, campers enjoyed some cabin time to wind down and prepare for dinner. Tonight’s meal was a hearty serving of chicken Alfredo with Caesar salad, topped off with colorful and festive confetti cake for dessert—yum! As the sun dipped behind the mountains, we came together for our evening program: THRIVE! Campers split into red and blue teams for a thrilling, water-soaked game of capture the flag. It was wild, it was wet, and it was an absolute blast!

To wind down the day, we stopped by the camp store for evening treats, followed by a quick energizer in the gym. We then made our way to one of the most meaningful traditions of Camp Cheerio—Friendship Vespers. Tonight, our last-year campers took center stage, sharing heartfelt reflections and gratitude for their time here. It was a beautiful reminder of the friendships, growth, and unforgettable memories made at camp.

What a day—full of fun, adventure, and heart. Camp Cheerio is truly a place where every day counts, and today was no exception.
