This morning kicked off with a camper favorite—pancakes, sausage, and fresh strawberries to fuel a big day ahead. After breakfast, everyone headed back to their cabins for a little tidying up. Shoutout to Choctaw for winning cleanest cabin of the day—nice work!
Though the rain tried to put a damper on our morning, campers were full of energy and enthusiasm. Indoor activities took center stage, with games in the gym, high-energy rounds of Gaga at the Champ, and creativity flowing in arts and crafts. The rain may have changed our plans, but it definitely didn't slow us down. Lunch brought more comfort and cheer with a delicious spread of corn dogs, mac and cheese, broccoli, and Rice Krispies treats for dessert. Bellies full, we eased into an extended rest period, which gave everyone a chance to recharge before the afternoon.
By the time we regrouped, the sun had returned—along with a dose of summer humidity! Campers dove into their afternoon activities, making the most of the clearer skies. After a packed afternoon, we returned to the cabins to clean up and get ready for an exciting dinner. Tonight's theme? Asian Night! Campers enjoyed orange sesame chicken, brown rice, mixed veggies, spring rolls, and—of course—fortune cookies to cap it all off.
Dinner took a wild turn when a spider and flea made a surprise appearance to announce tonight’s evening program: Predator vs. Prey! After some energizers in the gym, the game was on. Campers took on roles like snakes, fleas, and spiders as they dashed around collecting food, water, and shelter—all while avoiding being caught.
As the sun dipped behind the mountains, we ended the evening with a trip to the store, a hilarious staff skit, and a peaceful acoustic guitar performance to wind things down. Finally, we gathered at the chapel for Friendship Vespers—a meaningful time where our last-year campers reflected on their journey and memories at Camp Cheerio.
It was a day packed with fun, surprises, and meaningful moments—rain or shine, every day at camp is a new adventure!
