Happy Thursday and Merry Christmas!

Day 5

Merry Christmas!!! That’s right! Today we are celebrating
Christmas in July at CBS! You will see some special guests in today’s pictures, delivering goodies to campers. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to hear the festive music being played all day around camp or taste the hot chocolate served in the Rio Grande.

Last night campers enjoyed our “Game Day” theme night,
complete with a tailgate atmosphere of face painting, ice cream bar, a huge inflatable obstacle course, and yard games all leading up to an incredible football game played by our oldest female campers. Campers of all ages looked great in their favorite college and pro team gear, and of course many represented our own special team spirit with the Rangers/Lone Stars and Rough Riders/Silver Spurs gear. It was a very entertaining game between the Silver Spurs and Lone Stars. All campers cheered on their respective teams and the Scamper Boys went above
and beyond with their spirit, making signs to encourage the ladies. In the end, the Silver Spurs brought home the win! However, in our daily team competition games the Lone Stars and Texas Rangers hold a narrow lead.

Tonight the boys get to enjoy a memorable cookout at the beach while the ladies will be treated to “Women’s Dinner!”

This is my first blog post to write this term and I look
forward to keeping you up to date on all the big happenings around camp for the remainder of the term. My name is Averi, and I’m a first time camper MOM, however, I am a veteran to CBS. I worked here 5 summers from 2002-2006, serving as a counselor, leadership team member, and even full time staff as the office
manager in 2006!! CBS feels like home to me and I’m thrilled to have a full-circle moment when my own children get to experience the place that was so special to me. I’m here this term as a photographer as well. At home in Stillwater, OK, I’m a wedding and portrait photographer, and being the camp photographer back in 2003 set me down my career path!!

I love getting to see the counselors interact with the kids,
teach them new skills, be silly, and build relationships. Term 4 has been so much fun!! Thank you for sharing your precious children with us.
