MONDAY 6/7

MONDAY

Monday morning our Leadership staff kicked off the first session for Summer 2026 with our morning watch. Before the day kicked off, the campers indulged in pancakes, bacon and fruit and ended breakfast by guessing the river level. A Cheerio New River morning tradition. The cabins then kicked off the cabin cleanup competition for the week and made sure their cabins were spick and span!

Lunch was a hit with corndogs and mac and cheese rounded out with an ice cream cup to cool everyone off. Congratulations to Hoffman Mountain for clenching the honor cabin for cabin clean up. Pine Mountain has some stepping up to do after getting the Dirty Duck for the day.

We dodged the rain for afternoon activities before heading into cabin time. The new gym was a big hit for cabins to play some pickleball, basketball and just hang out. For dinner, campers ate chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. Chef Chris made is famous coffee cake to end the meal. Today's evening program was Spy Hunter. Cabins ran around camp hunting for other groups and sprayed each other with water guns. To conclude the evening (right before the storm!) everyone gathered as a camp for Store, energizers and flag lowering. Thank you to Mount Rogers on a fabulous vespers on Friendship.

What a wonderful start to Session One!
